AQHA Has a New Registration Certificate

AQHA just came out with a new registration certificate that they started to use durring the world show.  It is really nice looking.  They said the image they were looking for was something worthy of framing on the wall.  It is landscape oriented, with a larger pedigree and identification photos on the back rather than front.

All horses from now on will be issued this certificate or if you transfer ect.  Owners may also order this new certificate to replace their old one for $10.

For more information, and to see the new certificate go to http://www.aqha.com/news/2009PressReleases/11092009_newregcertificate.html

Which side to get on and off?

Here is a cute mounting riddle I found and thought I would share.

"The left side is the right side and the right side is the wrong side"
- Old saying about where to mount and dismount

Business Card

Here is the prototype for our new business card.

Worried about the enviroment and the cost of transport?

Try the ride share program:

Club Equestrian allows people to post if they have room in their trailer on a trip or allow you to contact people with room, great if you do not have a trailer of your own!

*I found this great update in Horse Illustrated*

AQHA Registration Discount

AQHA is currently offering a registration discount on older horses to max our at $300, that is a huge savings considering a horse 4 years or older normally costs $1000!

APHA is offering a similar thing as well, which has been in effect since last year. Their discount is max of $100 for colored horses and $50 for breeding stock.

Tips for selling horses.

I found this on ultimatehorsesite.com and it makes a really good point.

It talks about what you need to do to sell not only horses but other sevices on your farm/ranch. It is important to know who your audience is.

Here is the link http://www.ultimatehorsesite.com/articles/blazerd_sellperception.html

Enjoy, and good luck selling!

Upcomming Event

The Minnesota State Horse Show is this weekend at the MN State Fair ground (starts on the 18th), then the following weekend is the CMHIA Champ show.

Good Luck to all participants!

SI and ROM

The Speed Index, the measure of a horse's speed used on the race track which was used to replace the letter system (AAA ect.)

Now for today's AQHA a speed index of 80 is required to earn an ROM in racing.

Americas Horse Daily put out a great PDF on how speed index is calculated and how it relates to the older letter sysem, click here to learn more.

Reminder

Make sure to balance your horses phosphorus and calcium in his diet. Remember that any type of grain tends to be high in phosphorus and alfalfa hay contains higher levels of calcium, so many people seek to balance that by feeding the two together.
